Ouachita's Cross Brandon participates in Broadway Winds summer program in New York

Cross Brandon, a sophomore instrumental music education major from Little Rock, Ark., was one of 10 participants from around the country selected to study in the Broadway Winds intensive program.

Dr. Terry DeWitt (center) accepts Ouachita’s first Gold Status credential for its Exercise is Medicine (EIM) program during the American College of Sports Medicine’s (ACSM) annual meeting in Orlando this summer. Bob Sallis, past-president of ACSM and EIM founder, and Renee Jeffries Heil, current EIM Committee chair, presented the award.

Ouachita is first university in Arkansas to earn Gold Status credential from American College of Sports Medicine

Ouachita Baptist University recently became the first university in Arkansas to earn a Gold Status credential from the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) for its participation and excellence in the organization’s Exercise is Medicine® (EIM) program.

Thirty faculty members representing institutions in 17 states attended Ouachita’s Department of Biological Sciences’ third AR-CURE Synthetic Biology Workshop, led by Drs. Nathan Reyna and Ruth Plymale. The workshop, held June 16-19 on campus, shared Ouachita’s innovative course-based research project.

Behind the names: Berry-Peeples Bible Building

For nearly 60 years, Berry Bible Building has been the academic home for countless Ouachita Christian studies students and professors, as well as the rest of the student body, who complete foundational Christian studies classes there.

Ouachita professors Dr. Mary Chung (on piano) and Dr. Carlos Feller (on flute) perform at the International Flute Workshop’s opening recital in Ferentino, Italy. Chung and Feller also taught private lessons, workshops and coached rehearsals for the festival, held May 15-21 in Roccasecca.

With its large, symmetrical windows and white steeple stretching high, Berry Chapel has served as a campus landmark since 1962. It is a favorite sketch subject for Ouachita’s aspiring artists, but it is also a place – more than a building – etched in the memories of countless Ouachita students.
